Nîmes

I'm the kind of person that likes to do absolutely nothing on the weekends - and especially because I'm so busy during the week. But my host mother insisted that I discover more of the region on the weekends; and especially because it's a good opportunity to improve my French going to new places and practicing phrases with strangers. I picked Nîmes - frankly because at first I was planning to go to Avignon and then I woke up late so changed my mind to Nîmes..and when I got to the station I realized there was a train accident near Spain and the trains weren't moving. After a 2 hour wait, I finally got on the train and off to Nîmes I was in 30 minutes.

Montpellier is a relatively new city that flourished in the early Middle Ages. On the contrary, Nîmes is one of the oldest cities in France with lots of influence from the Roman Empire. There's even a Colosseum and the city is full of Roman influenced architecture. It was a beautiful Sunday to stroll through the peaceful streets.
