Marchés マルシェ

I know. It's very cliché to go to a marché in France.
But really, here going to a marché is a way of life. I don't know one French person who doesn't go to a marché, although the frequency differs.  Many people go to both supermarkets and marchés. For example, my host mother often goes to the marché to buy sausages, cheese, and bread but also uses supermarkets to by all other things.

Marchés are fantastic - it smells amazing an the variety of things that are sold there are extremely interesting. You can learn a lot about the local culture as well as brush up on your French skills as well. To top it off, the foods that they sell there are extremely fresh and good.  Marché des Arceaux is the best I've been to so far. It's not too big not too small and it has a lot of variety of products. And most importantly, it's held under a pretty historical bridge. Can it be anymore tempting to go?

フランスといえばもちろんマルシェ。どこの町でも週末になるとマルシェで賑わっています。フランス人をよく観察しているとスーパーとマルシェを旨く使い分けている感じです。例えばホストマザーはチーズ、ソーセージ、パンなどはマルシェで買い、野菜・果物は実家の畑で取れたものとスーパーを利用しています。

あたしは普段はホストファミリーと食事をしているのでマルシェで食材を買う必要はないのだけど、フランス語の練習をしたりフランスの珍しい食材を発見したりいろいろ勉強になります。
