This is my second time using Airbnb but I've certainly loved the experience so far. The first time was in Tokyo where I stayed at a guy's house who had a few extra rooms. I bought some beers from the store nearby and two other girls from Taiwan cooked dinner and we had a great time talking over famous Tokyo landmarks and Japanese cultural history.
Our owner this time was an American expat who had been living in Helsinki for the past 5 years. She stays at her boyfriends house but she was nice enough to invite us to drinks. As an American also living in Europe it was really nice to hear her perspective and how she adjusted to her life here. She had also brought her Finnish friend who had been living in Britain and Italy and gave some great language learning techniques. Apparently the new language starts to sync into you in seven months. So watch out people, in March I will be busting out my French in full force.
Fun fact: Scandinavian furniture is highly regarded, actually most locals buy IKEA hehe. It's like most Parisians prefer no brand clothes rather than Chanel.
